Summary

Responsible for planning, organizing, and directing all activities of the facility according to policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives of the organization. Participates in financial and cost-containment decisions. Assures that the facility meets all related local, state, federal, and accrediting body rules and regulations. Serves as Internal Risk Manager, Responsible for management of all aspects of the environment of care, personnel, materials, and equipment, continual education of personnel and all administrative duties. Coordinates and directs patient care in the facility according to adopted policies/procedures, state and federal regulations, and accepted accreditation standards. Promotes a favorable image of the facility to physicians, patients, contractors, vendors and the public. May delegate duties as deemed necessary.

Duties and Responsibilities

General 

  • Participates in facility committees, meetings, in-services, and activities
  • Recommends short and long-term goals for the facility to the Medical Executive Committee/Board of Managers and action plan for attaining these approved goals.
  • Maintains facility and equipment to ensure cleanliness, sterility, and operational ability at all times.
  • Responsible for the environment of care to include temperature, cleanliness, sterility, and operational ability at all times.
  • Evaluates need for new/different items in regard to present and new trends and needs of the community and facility.
  • Coordinates activities of facility with contracted service providers, i.e. pathology, radiology, housekeeping
  • Maintains liaisons with professional Ambulatory Surgery Center associations and incorporates new concepts into appropriate facility procedures.

 Communication

  • Communicates effectively and professionally with patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers
  • Interactions with others are positive, respectful, and considerate
  • Promotes effective communication between the business and clinical areas and physicians’ practices

Financial Practices 

  • Promotes cost-containment and efficient use of facility resources
  • Analyzes work area and makes recommendations for potential cost-effective improvements
  • Oversees business office functions to maintain efficiency

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Monitors payroll and benefits programs for accuracy, timeliness, cost-effectiveness, and for compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Responsible for development and implementation of capital and operating budgets
  • Conducts cost analyses to promote cost-effective operations and reports findings to Medical Executive Committee/Board of Managers
  • Audit accounts receivable and accounts payable for timely collections/payments
  • Negotiates managed care contracts and maintains positive communication with third payors
  • Coordinates purchasing of equipment/supplies to provide optimum patient care within budget allowances

Requirements

  • Business management experience
  • Financial management experience
  • Healthcare management experience (Nursing preferred but not required)
  • Completion of minimum of two years’ advanced education (college level) in business, nursing, or healthcare administration
  • Evidence of leadership abilities
  • Strong ethical and moral character references
  • Language skills adequate for high-level written, interpersonal and telephone communication in American English
