Summary

Position Summary

The Manager of Respiratory, under the guidance of the Administrative Director, Respiratory Care Services, is responsible for collaborating with the Respiratory Diagnostics Resource Therapists and other associates (Pulmonary Lab, EKG, Point of Care and Equipment Specialist) in planning, organizing, directing, and monitoring the total clinical and administrative functions of these specialty clinical areas. Responsibilities include budgeting, interviewing, hiring, space organization and handling personnel issues. This position is responsible for customer service and associate satisfaction for the assigned areas. This position is also responsible for Regulatory Compliance readiness as appropriate.  Clinical areas are also under the direction of the Medical Director as designated by the CMO or Medical Staff.  Additional responsibilities are assigned, as necessary.

Minimum Requirements

Education        

  • Associate Degree graduate of specialized training in an approved Respiratory Care program 

Experience      

  • Two to Five years’ experience in a Leadership position which includes at least 8 years clinical experience in Respiratory Care Services
  • Experience with Epiphany Cardio Serve software as an administrator
  • Experience with Epic EMR related to scheduling, documentation and billing

License/Registration/Certifications 

  • Must be Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care with RRT credential
  • Must have and maintain a current South Carolina Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License
  • Must have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Preferred Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Respiratory Therapy or Healthcare Administration

Preferred Experience

  • Ten years in a Leadership position in a hospital healthcare setting and at least 10 years clinical experience
  • Experience with Epiphany Cardio Serve software as an administrator
  • Experience with Epic EMR related to scheduling, documentation, and billing

Preferred License/Registration/Certifications          

  • Must be Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care with RRT credential
  • Must have and maintain a current South Carolina Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) License
  • Must have and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

 

Core Job Responsibilities

  • Performs all responsibilities related to revenue, expenses, budget, positions, productivity, and FTEs to ensure financial accountability for all cost center(s).  Reviews and reports variances to Director/Operations Manager monthly.
  • Works with Human Resources to ensure that all employees are paid appropriately and correctly.  Ensures that all employees’ time is accurately reported in the Time and Attendance System.
  • Responsible for communicating the organizational/departmental strategic imperatives, financial and quality progress to associates on a monthly basis.
  • Prepares the operating and capital budget on an annual basis.  Complies with all instructions and adheres to any time frames in the budget calendars or budget instructions.
  • Revenue Producing Departments only:

       A) Reconciles revenue from source systems to the billing system and the general ledger.

       B) Coordinates any revisions to the Charge master as appropriate.

       C) Ensures compliance with charging and billing activity

  • Abides by hospital policies and procedures; supports the mission of the hospital.
  • Develops and maintains schedule for staff in Pulmonary, EKG, Equipment and POCT.
  • Utilizes QAPI or quality process improvement as basis to improve departmental processes
  • Manages, coaches, and develops staff through rounding and performance feedback. 
  • Assists in the clinical areas as needed.
  • Achieves and maintains regulatory readiness status at all times, and specifically in Respiratory lab testing.
  • Serves on hospital or system committees as requested.
  • Collaborates with the Nursing leaders and other clinical areas as needed to meet the needs of the patient.
  • Oversees Equipment Specialist’s supply and equipment inventory processes and organization of supply areas.
  • Provides Epic EMR training for Respiratory Care and Respiratory Diagnostics associates.
  • Oversees EKG physician panel scheduling, reports and training on the Cardio Serve software.
  • Other duties as assigned
